RuMe On the Go

RuMe On the Go

One of the most exciting parts of watching the Sex and the City movie when it came out in 2008 was the fashion.  Everyone probably remembers the blue Manolo Blahnik, “Something Blue Satin Pump,” (can be found on www.bergdorfgoodman.com for $945.00), the shoes that Carrie Bradshaw wore to her wedding at city hall.  In case you have forgotten, we are getting closer and closer to the date that we have all been waiting for, May 27th!  Yes, in two days, Sex and the City 2 will be playing in theaters.

Yesterday, the premiere for Sex and the City 2 took place in New York City at Radio City Music Hall.  The fabulous four (Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon) attended the event and of course, all of them were dressed fabulously, just like their characters in the movie.  In fact, they seemed to have tried to match their characters through their outfits.

Sarah Jessica Parker definitely stole the show with a bright yellow Valentino that has an asymmetrical cut.  Her dress was fun, girly, and quirky, just like Carrie Bradshaw.

Kim Cattrall wore an embellished Naeem Kahn gown which was a pale green-yellow, a daring shade that we haven’t seen often in the past.  She plays Samantha Jones in SATC, a woman who is definitely not afraid of sexy attire, and Cattrall’s gown at the premiere was definitely sexier than the other actresses’ dresses, true to her character’s style.

Kristin Davis wore a hot pink vintage Jean Desses strapless dress.  She plays Charlotte York in the movie, a sophisticated, cute house-wife; accordingly, she chose a classic and feminine pink dress.

Cynthia Nixon went to the premiere in a black strapless Carolina Herrera gown with a simple feather-like ornament at the bust.  Nixon plays Miranda Hobbes in the movie, a lawyer that has trouble balancing out work and her family.  Hence, the dress was simple, sleek, and safe, just like the personality of Miranda, but still fashionable as always.

So, we’ve seen the fashion of the actresses, but I definitely cannot wait until I see the Sex and the City characters’ fashion! Again, the movie comes out  May 27th, 2010!  Make a note in your calendars, update your blackberry schedule, or whatever you use to keep yourself organized.  Be sure to watch the movie as soon as possible since Sex and the City sets the fashion trend.

At the premiere, MTV questioned the celebrities like Whitney Port, “What character are you?”  Whitney Port replied that she would be Carrie Bradshaw because she is very career oriented.  So here’s my question for you, “What character would you like to dress like?” Post your answer in the comments!

Marie Claire magazine has written an article about 15 designers who are not only top designers, but contribute and support causes. Ralph Lauren’s charity of choice is breast cancer and it is called The Pink Pony Fund and the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention. The Pink Pony Campaign represents the effort to bring adequate care to lower income communities. It is Lauren’s hope that women get screenings that help detect cancer earlier. Donatella Versace runs the Versace One Foundation which helped victims of the 2007 earthquake in China. Kenneth Cole’s charity is AmfAR which was developed to raise funds for Aid/HIV research and destigmatize the illness. Oscar de La Renta runs New Yorkers for Children which believes every child needs an education and the support of a family. Designers have become more well known for more than just the runway.
